Take two aspirin and call a priest in the morning
By Randy | April 29, 2008
An emergency 911 operator in Olsztyn, northeastern Poland, has been fired for telling a man who was calling in for an ambulance for his 87-year-old mother who he couldn’t wake up, that it would be better if he called a priest. Oh man! How stupid do you have to be to say something like that? It boggles the mind, doesn’t it?
Poland is coming under increased scrutiny after being sued by the Eoropean Court of Justice for lagging behind other member states in implementing the 112 emergency number. The new number is supposed to start funtioning flawlessly this summer. Hopefully the operators will follow suit, but I wouldn’t get my hopes up to high.
