Parking Rage
By Randy | June 20, 2007
I’m feeling a little (just a smidgen) guilty. I went to Walmart yesterday – and oh how I loathe that place – to pick up a couple of things. My son-in-law was with me and I stopped in front of the door briefly so he could get out and get started with his shopping while I parked. Meanwhile, an elderly gentleman in a truck behind me decided that 10 seconds was too long to wait and proceeded to try to pass around me just as I started taking off again. We almost collided, he honked like crazy at me and I cursed him silently under my breath.
I found a parking spot and still seething from the effects of parking rage, I hastily scrawled a note on a piece of paper that said, “Learn how to drive!” and put it under the wiper blade of his truck. Now I feel guilty. Was it really necessary for me to go to all the trouble to further stress things out by writing and leave that note for him to read? Wouldn’t it have better just to shine it on and let it go?
What do you do in situations like that? Do you resort to revenge or do you just walk away?
