About Me

Hi, my name is Randy Hill and I am just one of thousands of people around the world, tired and frustrated with the lack of consideration that is displayed by a growing "demographic" that I call, "the great unwashed and ill-mannered." People who can't seem to get outside their little world long enough to see the stress that they create on the rest of the population.

I've created this blog and online store as an outlet for this pent-up frustration...and also to have a little devious fun while I'm at it!

Have fun and keep it down while you're in here. Thanks.

Keep your eyes off my laptop!

By Randy | August 27, 2007

Okay, so you’re sitting next to a guy on an airplane and you notice he’s watching one of your favorite movies on his laptop and you forgot to bring your own. Do you,

a) ask if you can plug in and watch with him

b) peek at his screen and laugh uncontrollably at those funny scenes you recognize

c) pick up a magazine and give the guy some privacy

I have to admit to my share of peeking at other people’s laptop from time to time. Not maliciously mind you, but my attention just happened to get attracted to the other guy’s flashing laptop screen in the darkness of the cabin.

How big of a problem is this anyway? Apparently it happens all the time.

According to a survey last year of 601 business travelers who use laptops, 45% admitted to peeking at someone else’s laptop in public places. Fifty percent said they’ve noticed others looking at their laptop in public places. Manufacturing giant 3M, which sells privacy filters for laptop screens, paid for the research.

A privacy screen is a great idea if you have any concerns about what you are watching mind land on the wrong set of eyes. The filters sell for about $50 to $125.

Meanwhile, don’t be surprised to find yourself joined by a small audience of people sharing your movie experience with you when you fire up your laptop on a future flight.

Just smile and pass the popcorn.
