Parking tips for the parking challenged
By Randy | September 4, 2007
High on my list of complaints against humanity in general is the tendency of some people to park to close to the car next to them in a parking lot. Sometimes it’s a huge truck or van parked in a “compact” parking spot that creates the problem. Unfortunately, I can’t count the number of times that I have had to go through the passenger side of the car to get behind the wheel of my car. Believe me, it’s not a pretty sight.
Here are some parking tips for the parking challenged:
1) See those two vertical lines staring at you? Aim for the center.
2) Stop before you rear end the car parked in front of you.
3) Open your car door and make sure there is at least a foot between your door and the parking line.
4) Don’t bump the car door next to you. If you can’t avoid it, open your door slowly until it rests against the other car’s door guard trim, then exit your car.
5) Don’t park your Hummer, Cadillac, or truck in a space marked, “compact.”
6) In general, just take a few minutes and try to think about the other people around you. Be aware.
