About Me

Hi, my name is Randy Hill and I am just one of thousands of people around the world, tired and frustrated with the lack of consideration that is displayed by a growing "demographic" that I call, "the great unwashed and ill-mannered." People who can't seem to get outside their little world long enough to see the stress that they create on the rest of the population.

I've created this blog and online store as an outlet for this pent-up frustration...and also to have a little devious fun while I'm at it!

Have fun and keep it down while you're in here. Thanks.

Your local bookstore is not your personal lounge

By Randy | May 18, 2007

I absolutely love hanging out at bookstores. Always have and aways will. My own personal bookstore hangout is Border’s Books. As with most of the chain bookstores, Border’s has a coffee shop/reading area where you can peruse a magazine or book over coffee before you commit to buying it.

It’s a great setup except for those of the human race that read stacks and stacks of magazines and books for hours on end and then pile them on the floor next to their chair. I’ve been guilty of the same thing, but after seeing these coffeeshop employees having to go around and pick up after our mess, I’ve decided to mend my ways.

I try to remember where I’ve picked up the magazine or book and put it back in the same place when I’m through. I don’t know if that’s the correct thing to do or not. Maybe the bookstore would rather pick them up than have the customer put it back up in the wrong place.

It may be just a hangover from the days at the library when you were encouraged to leave the books on the table so the librarian could put it back on the shelf. I guess I need to find out the answer to this. If you think you know, leave a comment.
